Our staff has 56 years of combined experience on the Islands and since we are locally owned and operated you will always be dealing with an ‘Island expert’

Jeff - Owner Operator
A part of the Island community for 25 years, Jeff has managed and revitalized a number of Captiva and Sanibel associations and their rental programs over the years. In 2007, he capitalized on his expertise by launching Kingfisher and turning it into a renowned and widely recognized program. For over a decade he has been implementing his proprietary and ever-evolving standard operating procedures to bring the premier management services available to the marketplace. Jeff understands the most integral part of Kingfisher is the individuals who implement and personify the values, goals and purpose of Kingfisher to bring about world-class management. Jeff enjoys sailing and realized on his most recent trans-Atlantic crossing (UK to Caribbean) that sailing and owning a business has many similarities as you must rely on your knowledge, experience, and team to accomplish great things. His simple goal is to be the best vacation management company on the Islands. An award Kingfisher won in 2018..
Melinda - Director of Operations
Melinda moved to Sanibel Island 10 years ago after vacationing on the islands since 2002. Prior to moving to the Islands she was the Learning and Development Manager for a major credit card company with sites in Ohio, Utah and Arizona. Upon moving to the island she took a job in Real Estate and quickly applied her skills and experience in the real estate and vacation rental industry. Melinda loves spending time enjoying the islands with her partner Tim, her daughter, grandson and two cats.
Paola - Reservations Director
Paola moved to southwest Florida 18 years ago from Italy. She immediately fell in love with Sanibel and Captiva. Soon after moving to the area she started work on the islands developing 15 years experience on both Sanibel and Captiva in the rental management industry. She will be able to find the best property, with the best location to better accommodate your needs, desires and dreams. She will be your best concierge in town to suggest the right restaurants, the most desired location and the most breathtaking spot to enjoy the spectacular Sanibel and Captiva sunsets. In her private life Paola loves to spend time with her beloved cats. She is a big nature and animal lover. She has a great passion for fashion and art and loves to take long walks on the beach.
Sarah - Accounting
Sarah is an “island native” and was raised on Sanibel. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree at Florida Gulf Coast University. She has strong attention to detail and is savvy with technology. Sarah’s goal is to exceed expectations for any project she works on. When away from the office Sarah appreciates the benefits of Southwest Florida from nature walks, to boating and beaches
Jeanine - Owner Relations
Jeanine came to Sanibel and Captiva Islands in the mid 80’s from a big city, fell in love with the islands and never returned. She met her husband of 32 years on Sanibel, a local here on the islands and decided to raise their family here. Jeanine went to school for the travel and hospitality industry and has many years of experience in the field. Jeanine's hardwork and ample knowledge of hospitality and customer service have helped serve Kingfisher Vacations and our guests. Jeanine likes to spend her free time with her family at the beach, boating, shelling, playing with her newborn granddaughter and enjoying every minute of it! Jeanine is proud to call the islands her home and we couldn't be more proud to call Jeanine part of our Kingfisher team!
Laura - Reservations
Laura moved to Southwest Florida in 2010 from Wisconsin. Growing up in America's Heartland Laura learned from a young age about the importance of hard work and perseverance. Prior to working for Kingfisher Vacations Laura worked in Health care as an activities director, helping residents find peace and joy during their tough times. Laura has brought those skills into her current career helping thousands of guests who choose Sanibel and Captiva Islands to vacation. Laura's background in guest relations spans nearly 20 years and shows in her daily practices. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her son, and soaking up the island sun! We are thankful to call Laura part of our Kingfisher Family!
Kelsey - Marketing Director
Kelsey Smith is the Marketing Director for Kingfisher Vacations and a Realtor for Kingfisher Real Estate. Kelsey moved to Southwest Florida in late 2020 from Southern Oregon. After visiting Sanibel for the first time she was hooked! Kelsey found herself moved by the peace the islands brought and decided to settle on Sanibel island. Prior to joining Kingfisher Kelsey worked in Southern Oregon's Cannabis industry. Kelsey's entrepreneurship took her to Oregon where she helped pave the way towards legal operation and partnered with company owners to grow their market presence. Her background in management and marketing have helped shape her into the knowledgeable and driven young individual that she is today. An avid traveler Kelsey has completed many bucket list items. One of which landed her here on the Islands. In her spare time Kelsey enjoys soaking up the sun on our pristine beaches and joining her partner on the water sportfishing. We are happy to have Kelsey as part of the Kingfisher Vacations team!
Frank - Maintenance Director
Frank moved to Southwest Florida with his family in early 2016 from Maryland. Prior to moving to Florida Frank was a renowned owner operator and licensed contractor in the “delmarva” area. For over 25 years Frank worked hard throughout Delaware, Maryland and Virginia giving him the knowledge and experience that led to his current success in the field. After Volunteering at Ding Darling in their maintenance department, he accepted a position with Kingfisher Vacations. “I feel Kingfisher is a part of my family and enjoy working here” We feel the same Frank, Thank you for being part of our Kingfisher family!
Jonathan - Maintenance
Jonathan or Jon as we call him. Moved to Southwest Florida with his family in 2016 after graduating from High School. He has been honing his craft since he was a child learning the tricks of the trade from his father. Their family business helped shape Jon into the determined and hardworking individual that he is today. Prior to working for Kingfisher Vacations Jon worked for tarpon bay explorers helping guests with their kayaks, pontoon boats and paddle boards. Jon enjoys working here on Sanibel and Captiva Islands and has found his calling with Kingfisher Vacations. In his free time Jon likes to go boating, fishing and swimming. Spending quality time with his family always comes first. We are happy to call Jon part of our family!
Chris - Maintenance
Chris moved to Southwest Florida in the late 80’s from New York. The warm winters led him to settle here on Sanibel and Captiva Islands, where he has taken to the Islands to put his knowledge,skill and expertise to good use. Prior to working for Kingfisher Vacations, Chris was an experienced paint contractor. Chris takes pride in his confidence to fix nearly anything, as he has thirty years of construction experience in various fields. A perfect day for Chris includes fishing, football and his three dogs. We thank Chris for all that he does for our Kingfisher Vacations Family!
Teresa - Housekeeping Manager
Teresa moved to Southwest Florida in 2018 from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Prior to working for Kingfisher Vacations, Teresa was a secretary for the San Juan Government. Teresa grew up in a large family, the only daughter among 8 brothers and is herself a proud mother to four and grandmother to six. She finds joy in spending time with her family and dancing. Her natural abilities for caretaking and hospitality are unmatched and evident in her superior work as the head of housekeeping here at Kingfisher. She leads by example, and has an amazing and hard working staff. We are happy to call Teresa part of the Kingfisher Team!
Karol - Inspections Manager
Karol moved to southwest Florida in 2019 from Medellin, Colombia where the mountains are beautiful and the people are kind hearted. Prior to moving to the US she worked as a nurse at her local hospital. One of her proudest accomplishments was the joy she brought while volunteering as a clown helping patients with laughter therapy. Karol has been living in paradise here on Sanibel for some time now and this is where she met the love of her life, her partner who she married two years ago. Karol's hardwork and determination to bring others happiness has carried over into her current career. In her free time, Karol enjoys sharing her days with her husband fishing, boating and walking the beach together. Thank you Karol for all that you do for Kingfisher Vacations.
